Four people arrested for drug offences in Rochdale and Ramsbottom

Date published: 10 December 2020

Four people have been arrested for drug offences after warrants were executed earlier this morning (Thursday 10 December) at three addresses in Rochdale and Ramsbottom.

A man and woman, both aged 28, were arrested in Rochdale, and a man and a woman, both aged 31, were arrested in Ramsbottom.

All four were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs and involvement in the activities of an organised crime group.

They all remain in custody for questioning.

A large quantity of money and 16 digital devices were recovered from the properties and will be examined.

The arrests form part of Operation Foam – which is the GMP strand of the NCA-led Operation Venetic – and has seen enforcement agencies across the country join together to target the use of a highly sophisticated encrypted global communication service being used by organised crime groups.

Detective Inspector Karl Ward of GMP’s Operation Challenger Team: “The arrests today are the culmination of months of evidence gathering and dedicated investigative work and I extend my thanks to the Operation Challenger Team for the commitment they have put in to help disrupt this kind of activity.

“GMP is dedicated to disrupting and halting organised criminal activity, and we will continue to work to dismantle the networks involved in the distribution of drugs throughout our communities.”

Anyone with information should contact the Operation Challenger Team on 0161 856 8539. Alternatively details can be passed on anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
