Year 7 students at Kingsway Park spread Christmas joy

Date published: 13 December 2020

Year 7 students at Kingsway Park High School have created over 50 shoeboxes for vulnerable members of the community.

They worked incredibly hard to source appropriate materials from friends and family and then wrapped and decorated the shoeboxes, ready to be delivered to the elderly and homeless community.

Students felt particularly strong about making sure that everyone will feel special this Christmas.

One student wrote the following in her Christmas card: ‘there are people in this world that care for you – never forget that.’

The students created the shoeboxes in their Wednesday afternoon VISION sessions, which stands for: Values for life; Inspiration for the future; Shared Experiences; Informed Global Citizens; Opportunities for all; Never forget. Every Wednesday the students participate in an experience to gain knowledge or experience in relation to the VISION statement.

Ms Crook, Year 7 VISION lead, commented: “We are so proud of our students; they are incredibly empathetic and have worked so hard on the Christmas Shoebox Appeal.”

One of the charities that will distribute the boxes is Manchester Street Angels, which works tirelessly to help vulnerable members of the Manchester community.
