Whitworth girl heads to Glasgow for fame on CBBC

Date published: 13 November 2020

An 11-year-old girl from Whitworth has been chosen over 750 other contestants to be on the well-known CBBC television series, The Dog Ate My Homework.

Kathryn Lewis and other contestants, submitted an audition video, which meant she was called via Zoom where she was told, after a series of games, that she had got on the eighth series of the show.

Kathryn spent the last weekend of October filming the show in Glasgow, where she will be joined by a panel of celebrities and comedians as they take part in various games and quizzes.

Mum Victoria said: “Kathryn was so chuffed and excited when she got on the show; she couldn’t believe it.”

The series, formerly presented by Iain Stirling and Hacker T. Dog, and later YouTube sensation Adam B, pits two teams against each other, consisting of a CBBC star, a comedian, and a lucky child contestant.

Whichever team accumulates more golden stars wins prizes - the part Kathryn looked forward to the most - and the losers get detention with Mr Smash.

This year, things will be done slightly different due to social distancing regulations, with a socially distanced audience and panel.

Currently in its seventh series, The Dog Ate My Homework airs on BBC2.
