Observed by Commonwealth countries, Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day, marks the day when World War One ended: at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. Remembrance Sunday takes place on the Sunday closest to this date, this year on Sunday (8 November).
Here's how Heywood remembered the fallen this year.
Four children in Year Six at St Luke's laid a poppy wreath at Heywood Cenotaph on Wednesday 4 November to remember those who died and served in the two World Wars.
Rochdale Borough Council and Balfour Beatty have painted a Remembrance Poppy near the cenotaph.
Pat Colclough, Alderwoman of Rochdale, presented a wreath at Heywood Cenotaph on behalf of the Back O' th' Moss Community Centre.
Councillors Peter Rush and Ray Dutton presented a wreath at Heywood Cenotaph on behalf of Heywood Township Committee and Heywood Lions.
