Volunteers needed at Reuse Littleborough

Date published: 24 October 2020

Community group Reuse Littleborough urgently requires volunteers to help with donations.

The shop, based at the former Royal Oak Hotel, needs four people to help staff, plus a van and driver, and space to store donations. Whilst the shop has several quarantine bays for donations, they quickly become full before being sorted.

Group founder Michael Bamford said: “We are desperate for volunteers.

“The amount of donations at times is mind-blowing; it makes it difficult when we are not allowed to handle them for 72 hours and have to put them in quarantine, but we manage.

“We do struggle with no transport and could be so much bigger and better with some local help like storage, a van, and strong people to move items. If you can help, please contact us.

“Thank you all to your continued support.”

The eco-friendly community group was launched after Michael noticed a discrepancy between the waste we have in our country and those in need in poorer countries.

Founded in 2015 and now based in the centre of Littleborough, Reuse Littleborough started with an online post, asking for donations of unwanted baby items to send to the Forever Angels Baby Home in Tanzania.
