Whitworth boy spreads happiness by giving away sunflowers

Date published: 03 June 2020

A little boy from Whitworth has been spreading his own bit of sunshine in the town, by giving away free sunflowers.

Leo Poulter, five, has been planting seeds to spread happiness to local residents, whilst he is recovering from a broken arm.

Once the flowers sprout, Leo, who loves to dance and trampoline, makes labels for the pots, putting the flowers outside for the community to take and grow at home.

Leo began his mission with sunflowers – because, in his words, “everyone loves sunflowers” – and has also gone on to plant colourful cornflowers and pansies.

The generous little boy has even been stopped in the street by people thanking him for the gesture.
