A United Utilities spokesperson said: “We’re pleased to report that we completed repairs on a burst water main on Whitworth Road in the early hours of this morning. Our water on wheels tankers kept the taps flowing for customers during repairs and everything is now back to normal.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
