GCSE results: Siddal Moor improved results from 2018

The numbers of students achieving a standard pass in English and Maths has improved at Siddal Moor this year.

English results have improved on the previous year, with maths remaining around the same. 

A number of students have achieved some excellent results including several students who gained the top grades in all their subjects. The bottom of a grade 7 is comparable to the bottom of the old grade A, whilst the bottom of a new grade 4 is comparable to the bottom of the old grade C. Grade 9 is the equivalent of above an A*.

Of particular note are the following students:

• Millie Wilson, who gained four grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7
• Jake Stretton who managed two grade 9s one grade 8 and five grade 7s
• Paul O’Driscoll, who achieved one grade 9, two grade 8s and five grade 7s
• Chloe Eccles, who gained three grade 8s, four grade 7s and one grade 6

Siddal Moor's Head of School, Simon White said: “The vast majority of students have achieved the entry requirements they need for the next phase in their education and we would like to wish them all the very best in the future.

“All involved with the school will continue to work hard to build upon the improvements seen by Ofsted during their visit earlier this year, where they stated that the school had turned a corner and that plans were in place to ensure further school improvement.”

Plans to become part of a multi-academy trust with Hollingworth Academy are well underway and Siddal Moor is set to convert to an academy during the autumn term of the new academic year.
