Wettest July on record for Rochdale

July 2019 has been declared as the wettest on record for the Rochdale borough by the Met Office.
The Rochdale weather station has recorded its highest figure of rainfall for the month since records began in 1949, with 196.6mm of rain.
The last weekend of the month was wetter here in the borough than anywhere else in the country, as more than a month’s rain fell in just 48 hours.
July also brought record-breaking temperatures on Thursday 25 July, as a high of 32.7 °C was reached - the hottest day ever since records began.
The hottest day ever recorded in the borough previously was on 9 August 2003, when the mercury reached 31.2°C.
Previously, the hottest July day on record was 1 July 2015, with a temperature of 31.1°C.
