Castleton Health & Leisure CIC looks for big cash boost for hydrotherapy pool

Date published: 05 May 2019

Castleton Health & Leisure CIC has applied to the Tesco Bags of Help Centenary Fund to give a big boost to funds for their highly-anticipated hydrotherapy pool.

Hydro 16, led by Dave Richardson, started fundraising in 2016 and to date has accrued around £29,000 – approximately half of the money needed to bring the accessible pool to the village.

Joanne Potts, facility manager at Castleton Health and Leisure Centre said: “We have recognised a need for a hydrotherapy pool that is available for general public use in Rochdale.

“We have the perfect place for it at Castleton Health and Leisure Centre and we have countless testimonials from potential users.

“Hydrotherapy has amazing health benefits and can help to ease the symptoms of many life limiting conditions such as Parkinsons, MS, ME, Autism, ADHD, Arthritis, Bursitis, to name but a few.

“It is also extremely useful for sports rehabilitation and that of stroke sufferers.

“Parent/carers have reported having to travel as far as Preston and paying £60-80 per hour. This often includes changing time which can be a lengthy process for someone with a disability or an injury.

“We pledge to make this service affordable and accessible for people of all ages and abilities.

“If we are one of the three chosen charities for the blue token scheme, you can pledge your support for our worthy cause by posting the blue tokens in our slot during the voting period.

“Please join our crusade to bring hydrotherapy to those who need and deserve it, sooner rather than later."

Tesco Bags of Help Centenary Grants are two special voting rounds of the Tesco local community grant scheme and offers a unique opportunity to benefit more people.

Three community projects in each region will be voted on by customers in Tesco stores throughout the UK, in July/August and November/December 2019.

Following the vote, the project that receives the most votes in the voting region will receive a grant of up to £25,000, second place receiving up to £15,000 and third place up to £10,000.

Castleton Health & Leisure Centre is always looking for innovative ways to boost  income and create fundraising opportunities. Please call 01706 353663 if you would like to get involved.
