To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, Renold Gears are recognising the achievements of their Engineer Apprentices.

Renold is an international group delivering high precision engineered and power transmission products. Renold have always been at the leading edge of engineering and gear technology with innovative products and bespoke power transmission solutions.

Alisha Yates, from Rochdale who attended St Cuthbert’s RC High School said: “I discovered Apprenticeships through my brother who completed the same course. I like the real-life approach working in a live engineering environment.”

Aaron Beckett, from Middleton who attended Middleton Technology School said: “I would recommend Apprenticeships to anyone who wants a practical role, train and get paid. Since becoming an apprentice with Renold I have learnt a lot more than any college course."

Bill Sandilands, Engineering Chief Instructor from Rochdale Training said: “The apprentices have completed some excellent work towards their Apprenticeship which goes above and beyond the quality and quantity of what is required. They are involved in several engineering projects including the design and engineering of a chess set.”

Phil Tissington, Operations Director of Renold said: “Continual investment in our Apprenticeship scheme is part of our company strategy as we have recognised the skills shortage in engineering and the importance of ensuring we retain and develop the core skills within our UK business. After a successful recruitment campaign last year, where we had four apprentices join our business, we are now preparing to recruit additional apprentices this year.”

Janine Smith, Head of HR TT Europe of Renold said: “Apprenticeships are very much a part of our history and we value the benefits of consistently developing new talent as so many of our employees started out their careers with Renold Gears as apprentices.  Their individual career paths show how completing an apprenticeship really does open the door to many opportunities across the business.”
