Middleton business victim of ugly graffiti tags

Date published: 23 January 2019

Workers at a Middleton business had an unpleasant surprise on Monday morning (21 January) as they were greeted with a stream of ugly graffiti on the wall next to their premises.

Graffiti ‘artists’ struck overnight, spraying an illegible tag on the wall outside Storage World Middleton on Townley Street.

This follows just a few months after a mindless moron went on a graffiti spree around the town, scrawling paint around Long Street Methodist Church, The Olde Boar’s Head, Broadbents, Mellalieu Street and The Woodman Inn.

This latest vandalism has been reported to Rochdale Borough Council. It is unknown if it is related to the previous spree.

Councillor Neil Emmott, cabinet member for environment at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “This type of graffiti is a completely mindless act of vandalism and a blight on our town.

“We have made great strides in making Middleton a cleaner, greener town for all, which I hope has been noticed by residents. For a small minority to ruin this hard work for all of our upstanding residents is just not on.

“We would urge members of the public with information on the culprits to contact the police.”
