Castleton Health and Leisure Centre wins bags of help

Date published: 26 September 2018

Castleton Health and Leisure Centre has secured enough funding for an inflatable wobbly obstacle course, thanks to the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.

A representative of Castleton Leisure Centre said: “It's official, we came first in the Tesco blue token scheme. A huge thank you to all our supporters, together we did it.

“The wobbly obstacle course will be coming soon, helping to bring more revenue to make your local community pool more sustainable.”

The pool was officially opened on 5 February by the then Mayor, Ian Duckworth, following a regeneration project that saved the pool from closure.

A rescue package was secured, and through a community asset transfer, Crewe Industrial restored the baths, on Manchester Road, to their former glory.

Since launching in 2015, Bags of Help has awarded more than £33 million across more than 6,400 local projects in 600 communities.

Grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 are all raised from the 5p bag levy.
