Former primary school playing field to be sold
Date published: 26 September 2018
A former Middleton primary school playing field is to be sold.
The land, at Leighton Avenue, was used by Alkrington Moss Primary School until the school closed in July 2008 and has not been in use since.
Rochdale Borough Council cabinet approved the sale at the latest meeting on Tuesday (25 September).
Middleton Township had previously expressed a preference for the site to become a playing pitch. However, council officers stated there is no budget to implement this and there is sufficient playing pitches in the town, according to the playing pitch strategy.
Releasing the site would generate a capital receipt for the council.
