Huge fire at a mill on Greenfield Lane
Roughly 20 to 30 nearby homes are being evacuated due to the huge mill fire on Greenfield Lane off Queensway.
Bury and Rochdale magistrates court has been opened as an evacuation point for residents.
Police are in attendance and Queensway is closed in both directions between Dicken Green and Oldham Road.
Road closures are also in place on Milkstone Road and Well I’ Th Lane.
Over 50 firefighters are continuing to tackle the blaze involving the ground floor and first floor of the mill.
Crews are using handheld jets to control the blaze and are also tackling the fire from height using a hydraulic platform. Firefighters are working hard to stop fire spread and protect nearby buildings.
Local residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed while the fire service work to extinguish the blaze.
There are no reported injuries.
