A ‘Right Royal Bake Off’ at Christ Church, Healey raised £1,562.15 for Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home on Saturday (9 June).

The event, organised by Zebracorn’s 'children's party planners' and friends, was enjoyed by over a hundred attendees who raised money for the charity whilst celebrating the Queen’s birthday.

The day included a raffle, tombola, glitter tattoos, cake decorating, slime tubs, rock painting, name the giant teddy and gifts were available to purchase from stalls such as Re-Love Me, Seriously Scentsy and the Body Shop at Home.

RRG Rochdale Toyota also took part in the event offering coffee and homemade cakes at their local dealership, all in aid of the charity.

Gillian Hastewell, a member of Zebracorn who hosted the event, said: “The cake entries were fantastic, and the winners were outstanding.

“There were many activities on offer for all ages to enjoy and the raffle proved to be very popular.

“Local businesses provided some excellent prizes and RRG Rochdale Toyota even had their own Bake Off the day before to support the event.”

Heather Bibbington, fundraiser for Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home, said: “In perspective, the money raised is the equivalent cost of all our six-week holiday trips for children in social services.

“We are honoured and thankful to have been the chosen charity for this event and are happy to know we are held in the hearts of Whitworth community.

“We send a massive thanks to anyone who supported the event.”

All unsold cakes from the bake off were donated to Angie’s Angels – a group who work closely with the homeless.

Winners of the bake off were:

Under 12 category – Sophie Baron

Under 18 category – Sophie Greenwood

Adult category – Nickie Baron
