Do you know who Maureen Richmond-Bennett’s parents are?
Date published: 13 March 2018
Maureen Richmond-Bennett, who was born in Littleborough, is searching for her birth parents.
Born on 27 July 1964 as Gaynor Louise Kay, Maureen only knows her birth mother was called Maureen Kay. She does not know anything about her father, not even a name.
Maureen was adopted when she was just weeks old by her “fantastic parents” John and Kathleen Richmond, and moved to Eccles shortly afterwards. John and Kathleen both died around 10 years ago.
The mental health nurse from Swinton, Manchester, does not know how old her birth parents were when she was born, but knows she also has two older brothers, who were not given up for adoption.
She has known she was adopted since she was 11 when she was given her adoption papers, medical forms and birth certificates. Her birth father’s name is not displayed on her forms, and her given name on the medical certificate and adoption order as Dana Louise.
Maureen said: “My medical certificate mentions Ashton-under-Lyne and District Adoption Society, and I know the court in Eccles dealt with my adoption.
“For many years I’ve always wanted to look for my birth parents, but I never felt the time was right. I now feel like it is, but I feel like I might be too late.”
If you are related to Maureen, or know anything about her parents or brothers, please contact the Newsdesk with your details which we will pass on to Maureen.
