Beech House School Year 6 Victorian Wax Museum
Swimming
Castleton Baths hosted the Rochdale Borough School Games Partnership (RBSGP) swimming preliminaries for this academic year. Beech House were fortunate enough to travel with a strong squad for this year’s event, which was reflected in some very impressive performances and results.
It was a team event with every result counting towards a final total; the team with the highest number of points progressing through to the Greater Manchester Winter Games at Todmorden Sports Centre on Thursday 8 February.
After a very competitive day racing The Beech House boys’ team, who were largely overlooked going into the event, came away with the win and qualification through to the final event. However sadly, the girls team were hampered by a late withdrawal and had to compete with just three swimmers.
Anais Aston, Camilla Zebedee-Howard and Elana El-Hage all put impressive swims together but unfortunately it was not enough.
The boys team captain, Christian Cullen, displayed many strong and consistent swims in his individual events, giving his relay team - Harry Hurst-Grover, Aryan Malik and Oliver Ashton - every chance of qualification going into the last race.
After a strong start from Cullen, the boys each put in a personal best performance. Grover and Malik were particularly impressive having only recently moved up to the intermediate swim groups at school, claiming a hard-fought victory.
In total the scores were:
Boys - Beech House 8 and St. Patrick’s 7
Girls - Beech House 6 and St. Patrick’s 12
