Goods Vehicle Operator’s Licence submitted for Tetrosyl site

Date published: 07 August 2017

Retford-based company Canute Haulage Group Ltd, has submitted an application to the traffic commissioner to keep 20 goods vehicles and 30 trailers on the Tetrosyl site on Royle Barn Road.

Goods vehicle operator licensing is a system of licensing aimed at ensuring the safe and proper use of goods vehicles and the protection of the environment around operating centres.

Generally speaking, a traffic commissioner will consider the effects of:

  • Noise – from the applicant’s vehicles moving in and out of, and while at, the operating centre. This may be intrusive in the neighbourhood, bearing in mind the use of other land in the surrounding area and the intended hours of operation.
  • Visual Intrusion – the effect the parking of vehicles at the operating centre may have on the outlook from a representor’s property or land.
  • Vibration – the effect vehicle movements may have, either at the operating centre or on their way to or from the operating centre.
  • Fumes/Pollution – the effect of fumes from the applicant’s vehicles on the use or enjoyment of property.

Residents reported concerns about the number of HGV movements and air pollution at the March Castleton Area forum, with residents as far away as The Green reporting shaking in their houses due to the increasing numbers of lorries using Royle Road and Royle Barn Road:

Written objections can be made on environmental grounds only and should be made to both the applicant and the traffic commissioner no later than 12 August:

The Traffic Commissioner at Hillcrest House,
386 Harehills Lane,
Leeds,
LS9 6NF

Canute Haulage Group Ltd,
Gamston Airfield,

Retford,

If there are no objections, a licence will be issued which will also put no restrictions on operating times.
