Did you work with Veronica Taylor?

Date published: 07 January 2017

Local residents are being asked to help with an investigation following the death of Veronica Taylor from Milnrow.

Veronica died in April 2016, aged 84, following a battle with mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.

The Coroner is looking for anyone who worked with Veronica during her career to come forward as they may be able to provide vital information to assist with the investigation.

She believed she may have been exposed to asbestos whilst employed at Richard Barnes & Sons Ltd in Rochdale from 1948 until 1981 in the folding and sewing departments. The pipework in the mill was lagged with asbestos and often in poor repair. Veronica also worked at Birch Hill Hospital as a cleaner and Rochdale Cotton Mill.

The Coroner would like to hear from any of Veronica's former work colleagues if they have any information about the working conditions at Rochdale Cotton Mill, Richard Barnes & Sons or Birch Hill Hospital.
