Two women assaulted and robbed in Rochdale

Two women were assaulted and robbed in separate incidents in Rochdale on Monday (7 November).

A young woman was walking up Drake Street at 6.00am on Monday when she was followed onto Nelson Street and attacked by a man on Church Lane.

The attacker pulled the victim onto the floor by her hair and punched her in the face a number of times.

He stole her handbag and walked back into Rochdale town centre with the handbag before stealing her purse and discarding the bag and contents.

The man is described as wearing dark clothing at the time.

Anyone with any information regarding this robbery should contact the police on 101 quoting reference 237 07/11/16.

At 1.30pm the same day another woman was walking on Fishwick Street when she was approached by a man who assaulted her, punching her to the head and stealing her handbag.

Two members of the public intervened and chased the offender. Police are interested to speak to those two people as they may be able to assist with enquiries.
