Happiness Fair at Hamer
Date published: 04 July 2016
The Happiness Fair at Hamer Community Primary School on Friday 1 July was the culmination of two weeks work, during which the children from Reception to Year Six explored the concept of happiness.
After considering what it meant to be happy and discussing some of the things that made them feel this way, the children set about designing and making products to sell at the Happiness Fair in order to spread a little happiness amongst the school community.
The fair was a resounding success, with the classes raising almost £600 which is to be reinvested and used to spread even more happiness, this time across the wider community.
Classes are planning a variety of activities and events including:
- a trip to donate toys to the children’s ward at Oldham hospital;
- a trip to visit elderly residents in a local residential care home;
- donations to various local charities and a visit and donations to a local nursery
Throughout the project the children have utilised their maths skills and have made links to other curriculum areas such as Citizenship, British values PSHCE and RE.
They have also played host to a school council from Oldham education authority, who have been to share in our happiness.
As always, we would like to thank all of our wonderful children, staff and families for helping to make the project such a huge success.
