Appeal for witnesses following serious assault in Middleton
Date published: 29 September 2005
Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously assaulted as he walked home from the shops on Wood Street in Middleton on Tuesday 27 September 2005.
The 37-year-old was walking along Windermere Road at approximately 10pm when he heard footsteps behind him. As he reached the junction with Bampton Walk he felt someone bump into him and turned to see a dark hooded figure.
He carried on walking and a short time later realised that his left thigh was bleeding heavily. He walked home, from where he was taken to North Manchester General Hospital. He has since had surgery to treat a large stab wound to the back of his left thigh.
Officers believe the attack to be completely unprovoked and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the incident to contact Middleton CID on 0161 856 8753 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
