Transforming Middleton

Date published: 23 May 2005

Residents are invited to a special drop-in session next week to find out how a multi-million pound investment is helping to transform parts of Middleton and make it a better place to live.

Housing Market Renewal in Oldham and Rochdale is improving areas where there is low demand for housing and a limited choice of homes to serve the needs of communities.

In the last year £2.5 million has been spent creating much needed parking spaces in Langley and on boundary improvements such as new walls and railings.  A further £3.5 million will be spent in the next year.

Residents are invited to drop in and have a chat with the Housing Market Renewal team at Middleton Civic Centre, Fountain Street on Thursday 26th May from 2pm - 6pm, prior to the Middleton Township meeting. There will be lots of photographs and sketches on display and people will be able to give their views on the process by completing a questionnaire..

Future plans will involve Langley. Other areas that could benefit over the fifteen-year project include Hollin and Middleton Junction.

Paul Beardmore, Head of Strategic Housing Services for Rochdale Council, said: "We want people to come along and ask any questions they have about Housing Market Renewal.  This large Government investment is an opportunity to make Middleton a more attractive place to live."
