Foodbank going home...

Date published: 07 January 2016

Rochdale Foodbank will return to 9-10 South Parade from Monday 11 January after a team of professional cleaners completed cleaning out, drying out and disinfecting the premises so they are ready to be used again following the flood.

Foodbank manager, Iain Wight, said: “We have been very grateful for the use of the Town Hall since our foodbank centre and our warehouse were both flooded out on Boxing Day. Rochdale Council could not have done more to smooth the way for us, providing skips and extra labour when it was needed and welcoming our volunteers at the Town Hall with cups of tea.

“However, we are still not fully back on our feet yet, we need time next week to sort out the food we have saved and get the warehouse straight again. So we are asking the public and organisations who want to help us with food donations to be patient just a little longer.

“We will start to receive food donations from Monday 18 January, during normal opening times between 11.00am and 12.45pm.

“The Foodbank has no landline temporarily but all the agencies who carry foodbank vouchers have the mobile number to get in touch.

“We are really pleased that we have been able to continue to offer our service to our clients throughout this crisis and we look forward to helping more in the coming days from South Parade starting on Monday at 11.00am.”
