RBS, HSBC and Halifax Bank still closed following Boxing Day floods

Date published: 06 January 2016

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), HSBC and Halifax Bank in Rochdale Town Centre remain closed following the Boxing Day floods.

HSBC, which is located on Yorkshire Street, is closed due to flooding in the basement and it is not yet known when the branch will reopen.

A spokesperson for HSBC said: “The Rochdale branch is currently the only branch of ours that is not open and that is due to flooding in the basement. We are hoping it will re-open soon.”

The Halifax Bank, also on Yorkshire Street, is still closed and it is understood that the bank hopes to re-open on Monday (11 January).

A sign on the bank doors says: “We’ll be open again as soon as we can. We’ve closed the branch due to unforeseen circumstances. We’re sorry for any inconvenience. While we’re closed your nearest branch at Bury The Rock will be happy to help. We also have a branch in Oldham if you prefer.”

RBS on The Butts is also closed and it is not yet know when the branch will reopen.

A sign on the door of the bank reads: “This branch is temporarily closed. The nearest branch is Middleton, Shaw, Oldham or Bury. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.”

Other banks in the town centre are open as usual.

Barclays Bank on Yorkshire Street is still dealing with a few issues including no heating and problems with the lights but is open as usual.

Nat West on Town Hall Square has been open as normal following the flooding and despite suffering a power cut on Monday (4 January) is open as usual.
