Councillor Carol Wardle donates £500 to Heywood Scouts and Charlotte Quinn
Date published: 06 January 2016
Former Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Carol Wardle has donated £500 to both the Heywood (St John’s) Scouts and Heywood Guide Charlotte Quinn.
The Scouts group, which is made up of St John’s and the Heywood Explorer Scouts, received their £500 to help with a trip to Switzerland later this year.
Craig Pullan, Assistant District Commander for Scouts Pennine said: “The money will go towards a trip or an outing whilst we are in Switzerland. We are going to a central scout camp that they have there so we are doing a few different visits but this will go towards something extra for us to do.”
Charlotte Quinn, 17, from Heywood, received her donation to help her with a trip to Uganda in which she is going to do volunteer work.
Charlotte said: “I am going to Uganda to help with a dignity programme for women so it will be about helping the women feel dignified in school and in hospitals.
“It is hard to raise £2,000 on your own so this money is a huge help. It will probably go towards all of the injections that I need before going but it will make a huge difference.”
Charlotte will be going to Uganda with the Teams4U Charity.
Money donated by Councillor Wardle was raised during her Mayoral year of 2014-2015.
