Claire Renton hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the British Heart Foundation

Beauty queen Claire Renton, 31, from Middleton, is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the British Heart Foundation by taking part in Miss Charity Heart in February.

Speaking about the pageant, Claire said: “I entered because I enjoy pageants and I also enjoy raising money for charity.”

Claire, who was recently given the title of Miss Charity Heart Manchester 2015/2016, raised over £1,000 for various charities last year.

The Miss Charity Heart pageant will see Claire take part in a number of rounds, including the ‘Have a Heart’ round. As the event is in aid of the British Heart Foundation this round will see contestants wear something red or something with a red heart pattern on.

Round two is the ‘Charity Catwalk Challenge.’ Outfits worn by contestants must have been purchased from preferably a British Heart Foundation charity shop but any charity shop will be accepted. The outfit can be anything from fashion to formal to wacky and creative.

Finally, round three, ‘My time to Shine,’ is the formal evening wear round. Contestants can wear cocktail, evening, prom or pageant gowns and contestants will be interviewed briefly as they come off the catwalk

Claire added: “I am very excited for the finals and the fundraising leading up to it. This will be the third pageant I have taken part in.”

Last year Claire won the Miss Charity award for Face of the Globe after raising £600 for the Rainbow Child Foundation. She also held the title Beauty of Manchester 2015.

Claire is looking for local businesses who could supply prizes that can be raffled and is also looking for events where she can come along and raise awareness for the British Heart Foundation.
