100 food parcels for Rochdale from the Alkhair Foundation and Bolton Council of Mosques
Sabina Akhtar, a local community worker, secured 100 food parcels for the homeless, the elderly and other families in need Rochdale over Christmas.
The food parcels came from a total of 500 that were made by a group of Muslims from the Alkhair Foundation and Bolton Council of Mosques. They voluntarily collected all kinds of food items, which enabled them to make 500 parcels, and hired vans to deliver the food parcels across Greater Manchester in time for Christmas.
Sabina said: “When I found out about this project I quickly got in touch and requested 100 parcels for a range of people in Rochdale.
“I feel blessed that I have been able to help the homeless, the elderly and other families in need.
“I’m a strong believer in helping those who are in need locally and it’s fantastic to see passionate people working together regardless of their faith.
“Everyone who received a pack was overwhelmed with the generosity.”
