Rochdale Cameramen are aiming high

Date published: 20 December 2004

Two award winning Rochdale filmmakers have been shortlisted for an award at the Exposures Film Festival, held at the Cornerhouse Cinema in Manchester. Director Paul Vernon Lydiate and Cameraman David Howles have combined their filming talents to make a short and unusual film.

Cameraman and Shutters Video founder David Howles said, “The film shows a man who has just had a heart attack, and his struggle afterwards as he is physically and sexually restricted. The camera shots are through the eyes of the character himself, to show a more personal insight to his situation ”.

David and Paul completed their filming in just 2 days, which has also been sent off to Channel 4, with a potential opportunity to direct and shoot another film about the probation service in Bolton.

Previous to this success, David also won an award for “Best Videography” back in 2003 for a film he has produced.

Paul Vernon Lydiate has also made films for the National Trust, English Heritage, as well as working on the UK History Channel.

Shutters Video was established in 1984 by David Howles and has an excellent reputation locally, nationally and internationally. To see more of David’s work, have a look at the Shutters Video website: www.shuttersvideo.com
