Rochdale-based Zen Internet, one of the UK’s leading Internet Service Providers (ISPs), has announced that it plans to take on 100 new members of staff by the end of this year. The boost in staffing requirements comes after another successful year for the ISP, which is planning to double the number of new customers it takes on each month from 2,000 to 4,000. With broadband sign-ups on the increase across the UK, the ISP wants to ensure it is well placed to handle the extra demand for its Zen ADSL products, which are consistently ranked as providing the fastest broadband in the country.
Zen Internet, a provider of Internet services to both home and business users, has positions to fill across all sections of the company, including sales, customer services and billing, technical support and systems development. To provide an inside view of the working environment, the ISP will be holding an open evening for prospective employees at its Moss Bridge Road Rochdale headquarters, 5.30-9.00pm on Thursday 21st October.
“We are delighted to be in a position to create all these jobs in the Rochdale area,” said Richard Tang, Zen Internet proprietor and managing director. “Our policy is to employ talented and motivated individuals that are willing to learn and make the most of new opportunities. We hope our open evening on the 21st will attract a variety of people who will not only come to find out about the positions we have on offer, but also to learn something about the company ethos at Zen”.
If the company fulfils its latest recruitment plans, staff levels will double to over 200. The ISP has been gaining customers at a steady rate since its launch with just three members of staff in 1995, and has outgrown purpose-built premises that the company moved into in July 2001. Plans are currently being drawn up for new premises in Rochdale, ultimately capable of housing 1,000 staff, and due for completion in 2007.
2004 has already been a hugely successful year for the company and there have been numerous prestigious awards that recognise its consistent growth. Most recently, the company was listed 51st in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100, which represents the 100 fastest growing technology companies in the UK, judged on sales growth and profit figures over the last three years.
Zen also won the Growth Strategy of the Year award at the regional finals of this year’s National Business Awards, and Richard Tang was named Business Person of the Year at the North Manchester Business Awards for Excellence and Achievement.
With its established reputation for excellent growth strategies, this employer can make some serious promises to prospective employees, including unlimited opportunities for advancement and a friendly, informal working environment where the belief in communication and ongoing improvement creates a real ‘buzz’ for everyone.
