Inaugural EMBS Exhibition

Date published: 17 September 2004

The inaugural Ethnic Minority Business Support (EMBS) exhibition, in partnership with Business Link North West and Rochdale Development Agency, was held at Rochdale Town Hall on Friday 17 September. The purpose of the exhibition was to bring local businesses together.

Nighat, from the EMBS, said: “Today is a very good opportunity for everyone to meet under one roof: that is the main focus today's exhibition. It's much more useful to communicate in person instead of by telephone and email.”

Arthur Todd, representing Business Link, agreed, he said: “Being here today with all these other people brings a holistic understanding to each other, and clarifies what local businesses aim to do”.

A number of local businesses had stands, exhibitions and displays including Rochdale Online, Molesworth Bright Clegg Solicitors, Threefold Signs and Exhibitions, Hillside Brand Communication Solutions and the Asian Leader.

Local businessman, Jon Nazaruk, of Threefold Signs and Exhibitions, believes the event is just what the town needs, he said: “ This is something that has been missing. An event like this is important to us all, everyone is in their own business bubble and it’s relieving to get out of it”.

EMBS aim to support new-starting businesses, innovations, marketing, and business expansion, and they specialise in providing help and support to ethnic minorities in the community. EMBS also run free courses in First Aid, Food Hygiene, Bookkeeping and Health and Safety.
