John Clarke, new CLA Territory Manager to work in Lancashire and Cumbria

The CLA in the North has recruited a new Territory Manager to work in Lancashire and Cumbria.

John Clarke, 38, joins the CLA, which represents landowners, farmers and rural businesses, from farm machinery dealer Clarke and Pulman in Burscough, where he worked for over nine years.

A graduate of Myerscough College, John has spent the majority of his working life in the agricultural trade including several years as a herdsman for a 350 cow dairy farm in Gloucestershire.

He is now looking forward to putting his extensive knowledge of the local farming community to good use in his new role with the CLA.

John said: “Farmers are facing tough trading conditions at the moment with many dairy, livestock and arable businesses all struggling to make ends meet.

“It is at times like this that membership to an organisation like the CLA, which lobbies government extensively on behalf of farmers and landowners in the North West, is more important than ever.

“I am very much looking forward to meeting our existing members in the area as well as helping to grow our numbers.”

CLA North Regional Director Dorothy Fairburn said: “John has a passion for farming and a keen understanding of the issues facing our members. He will be a real asset to our team in the North and we are delighted to welcome him on board.”

John lives at Euxton near Chorley with his wife and two young children. In his spare time he enjoys helping out at a livestock farm near his home.
