The Rochdale Chapter of BNI, part of the best-known referral organisation in the world, Business Network International was formed in November 2001 and launched on 19 February 2002. The Chapter has a weekly breakfast meeting at Rochdale Town Hall. Members are given the opportunity to speak about their business and to network with other members. Business transacted between members since inception has exceeded £1.4 Million with an average of 192 business referrals a month.

A constantly up-to-date web site has become an essential tool for any business and Rochdale BNI, recognising that the Internet is an important part of any marketing strategy, chose Rochdale Online to develop an innovative, user-friendly web site in keeping with the high quality standards expected by successful local business men and women.

Rochdale Online provided Rochdale BNI with a dynamic database driven solution allied to a bespoke content management system.

The site enables visitors to view information about Rochdale BNI including profiles of each Rochdale BNI member and their business. The member profile pages include descriptions, photos, logos, downloadable/printable marketing documentation and full contact details.

With members from over 30 different businesses, co-ordinating content and ensuring the site remains constantly up-to-date could have been logistically difficult. However, the Rochdale Online developed content management system provides each member with the ability to amend and update the information in a user-friendly manner using a web browser to facilitate access at any time from any computer. Despite the complexity in the background, this ensures the site operates smoothly and effectively to direct enquiries, provide information and maximise the opportunity for Rochdale BNI members to market their businesses over the Internet, whilst at the same time allowing each authorised member full control over the content of their own pages.

Chapter Secretary/Treasurer, John Kay, of Molesworth Bright Clegg, said: "We are delighted with Rochdale Online's innovative response to our original brief. Our site can now be accessed by those looking for the reassurance of dealing with members of the most respected Business Networking organisation in the world. Moreover, each business owner is empowered to take control of their own content on the site."

Rochdale Online Managing Director, Pauline Journeaux, said: "We were delighted to be chosen by Rochdale BNI to develop their web site. This year has been very successful year for Rochdale Online having been shortlisted for the North Manchester E-Business of the Year Award, the New Statesman National New Media Awards and being successfully listed on the National Business Link Consultants Register."
