Pennines shops can bid for cash

Date published: 31 August 2015

Shops in Milnrow and Littleborough can bid for cash from a new £25,000 council fund to spruce up their shop fronts and stage community events.

The new scheme, set up by Rochdale Borough Council’s Pennines Township committee, aims to help small businesses who need a helping hand to maximise their potential.

Businesses can apply for match-funded grants of up to £1,000 to renovate shop fronts and participate in community events.

Businesses can also bid for cash, which has been made available through Pennines Township, to stage events to attract more people into the villages, including holding specialist markets.

Councillor John Blundell, Rochdale Borough Council’s Assistant Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “Milnrow and Littleborough have a unique village character which gives them huge potential as a destination for both residents and visitors who are looking for something a bit different. This cash will help businesses in these areas realise this potential.”

Businesses in Littleborough and Milnrow who would like to find out more about the scheme should contact Tracey Knight:
