Sales staff from all over the world joined local employees on Friday 9 July to see Milnrow specialist engineers Holroyd receive its Queen's Award for Enterprise. The hand-made crystal bowl was presented by the Lord Lieutenant for Greater Manchester, Col Sir John Timmins, KCVO, OBE, TD, at an event also attended by the board of parent company Renold PLC..
The company was among 12 North West organisations to win prestigious Queen's Awards 2004. It gained the Award in the Innovation category for its ultra-high precision range of thread and gear grinding systems.
At the presentation Tony Daniels, Holroyd's Managing Director said:
"It is a great honour for me to receive this award on behalf of the company and it's employees. The award recognises all of the hard work and effort, all the dedication and commitment, which many people have put into developing this technology over the last ten years."
"The fact that we have won the Queen's Award, and for the third time; endorses our high level of technology, maintains our position as world leader in our markets, gives our customers confidence in our products and overall it helps with the continued success of our business."
Stephen Brice, Acting Queen's Awards Secretary, said:
"Such presentations and related publicity are an important part of winning The Queen's Award, and many successful companies involve both their staff and customers in celebrating this prestigious business accolade."
He added: "Companies that wish to emulate Holroyd's success can enter for The Queen's Awards 2005. The closing date is 31 October and winners will be announced on Her Majesty's birthday next April."
