Zen Internet hosts mayoral visit on competition judging day

Date published: 17 July 2015

Zen Internet, a keen contender in the 2015 North West in Bloom contest, hosted a buffet lunch and tour on Tuesday 14 July for Mayor Surinder Biant and his wife Mayoress Cecile Biant, along with a number of competition judges to its headquarters on the official judging day of the gardening competition.

Set on 12 acres of land complete with wooded zones, bamboo garden, pond area and packed full of insects and small animals, Zen Internet has this year upped its efforts even further to seek success in the competition.

The company’s security and maintenance team have dedicated extra hours to ensuring the gardens are well pruned – including a daily litter pick – and other teams within the organisation have also been asked to donate their free time to the cause.

The site has become a haven for local wildlife, with regular visitors including foxes, a mink, moorhens, butterflies and damselflies.

Michael Marland, Zen Internet’s Maintenance Manager, said: “It was an honour to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress to Zen.

"We worked especially hard to create a good impression with our fantastic grounds because these particular judges had never visited the site before, we wanted to really impress them.

“My personal thanks go out to all the volunteers who worked hard to create a memorable event.

"We have our fingers crossed for the when the results of North West in Bloom are announced in September.”
