Lenses Help Business Focus

Using his expert knowledge, Rochdale entrepreneur Khosru Miah has focused his sights on setting up a niche business manufacturing speciality monomers (chemicals) for the contact lens and cosmetic industries.

Khosru will set up his business with two experienced partners, one of whom is a doctor in the field. Despite the competition, he believes his business Acryate Research and Development Ltd is unique: "We will manufacture niche products for the contact lens industries and we can do this to pharmaceutical grade," he explains. "We will also provide a custom manufacture programme to outside companies."

Khosru is currently researching novel hydrophilic oxygen permeable monomers for new generation contact lenses, and has big plans for the future: "I am keen to be my own boss," he explains. "I aim to be a global supplier of innovative monomers for the contact lens industry and eventually become a manufacturer of proprietary lenses."
