A New Beginning for Mosaic

Mosaic Meeting
Mosaic, the Women in Business Forum of the former Bolton & Bury Chamber, has launched into Oldham and Rochdale with a meeting, earlier this month, of women business owners and managers from the whole of the North Manchester Chamber.
The meeting represented a significant landmark in the development of Mosaic, which was formed as a sub-group of the Chamber some six years ago as a result of some inspired thinking on the part of a Chamber Board Member. This was a far-reaching vision and long pre-dated the drive to increase the participation of women in the business life of the UK and the region, which is now a significant part of DTI strategy.
Designed to work in partnership with the Chamber, Mosaic’s original objectives were: to encourage women in business to move forward with a high profile; to place women’s businesses and development on the agenda; to assist local business women to develop their potential for achieving success through membership of the Forum; and to encourage women in business to network locally, nationally and internationally by creating suitable opportunities and drawing upon the facilities offered by the chamber. Six years on, those objectives are still as relevant.
Mosaic is inclusive, open to all women business owners and decision makers, and aims to reach out into the wider Chamber through collaboration with partners. The group offers quality events, usually monthly, on a wide range of business and personal development subjects; it also publishes an electronic newsletter, Mosaic Matters, bringing member news, business and learning opportunities and general information to the whole of the membership.
There is no typical Mosaic member and women in business are welcomed if they feel they can benefit from what Mosaic has to offer. There are also plenty of opportunities for members to make a contribution to the group.
It is anticipated that the creation of the enlarged North Manchester Chamber will help increase the cross-fertilisation of business and ideas across a much larger area, providing members with even more opportunity to share knowledge, acquire new skills and build relationships. By using this for the wider good of the Chamber and the commercial success of the four towns, women will take their rightful place in the business community.
New members of Mosaic are always welcome, and the present Steering Group would therefore like to extend an invitation to all Chamber companies and women in business to contact them via Kay Gregson at the Chamber on 0845 601 6010 to hear first hand what Mosaic can offer.
