Baker Tilly appoints new Head of Corporate Finance for North West region

Date published: 18 January 2014

Gary Houghton has been appointed Baker Tilly’s Head of Corporate Finance for the North-West region.

Mr Houghton joined Baker Tilly in 1997, and has extensive experience of working closely with North West businesses on a variety of deals including M&A, Capital Markets and Due Diligence. The move comes as part of a restructure of Baker Tilly’s Corporate Finance service line following the recent merger with RSM Tenon.

The restructure sees Rob Donaldson appointed as Baker Tilly’s Head of Corporate Finance, and new regional Heads of Corporate Finance appointed across six regions - Scotland, North-West, North East & Yorkshire, Midlands, London and the South.

The North West team, which now comprises fifteen dedicated CF professionals, will continue to focus on providing a full spectrum of corporate finance advice to middle market businesses - including M&A, private equity, capital markets and due diligence, both on a national level and in the regions.

Over the last five years, the team has advised on over 500 transactions with a total value of billions of pounds.

Mr Houghton said: "This is the perfect time for us to refocus our corporate finance offering. There are clear signs of a sustained economic upturn taking hold and confidence is returning. At the same time, funding options are good with real appetite for deals among equity providers in the private and public arena.

"We are looking forward to working with our clients to help them achieve their strategic objectives."

Mr Donaldson said: "Having a stronger regional presence will be of real benefit to our clients and prospective clients across the UK.

"Gary has a distinct knowledge of the local market which will be of great importance to businesses looking to develop strategically in their chosen markets."
