Exhibitors showcase the breadth and depth of their products and services

Date published: 11 May 2013

The Rochdale, Rochdale, Rochdale Business Exhibition took in the magnificent setting of the Great Hall at Rochdale Town Hall and provided an excellent opportunity for exhibitors to showcase the breadth and depth of their products and services.

Rochdale Online Director John Kay formally opened the annual event and warmly welcomed visitors and exhibitors.

Outgoing Mayor, James Gartside also added words of welcome, he spoke with enthusiasm and optimism for the event and traders and spent a lot of time visiting the stands and chatting to visitors and traders.

Several councillors of all parties were also present at the event which was held in the late afternoon and early evening in order to increase footfall. This strategy appears to have been successful and many new orders and enquiries were reported to have been taken on the day.

Andy Kelly, the Liberal Democrat Leader on the council was delighted to show off his new Fancy Dress Shop business on Drake Street with its colourful display of costumes for hire.

Pauline Journeaux, Managing Director of Rochdale Online and Chairwoman of Rochdale, Rochdale, Rochdale spent most of the event deep in conversation with people from the business community telling them of the many ways in which Rochdale Online can help business increase their profile and attract new customers.

If there were any concerns about current issues regarding the retail sector and the future of Town Centre East, these were very much overtaken by the positive atmosphere and upbeat attitude of those attending who clearly demonstrated their enthusiasm and will to succeed in a trading environment that is both dynamic and successful for those companies which continue to do well and have thrived by taking advantage of the many opportunities that the borough has to offer.

It is hoped that the event will  take place next year.
