Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is calling for more Rochdale businesses to export to Europe.
Europe is the North West's most important export market taking over 50% of the region's exports, but the Chamber says the Eurozone crisis is putting off potential exporters.
The Chamber is staging an event next month to counteract these fears about trading with Europe. The event entitled "Trading With Confidence In Europe: Why You Should And How To Avoid The Risks", will feature a selection of high profile speakers, who are all experts on the European export market.
Dr Brian Sloan, Chief Economist at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said: "The Chamber's latest Quarterly Economic Survey showed businesses that sell their goods or services abroad are outperforming those that don't.
"Europe is a key market right on our doorstep, but we're concerned that all the media coverage of the Eurozone crisis is scaring off local businesses. Despite all the problems with the single currency, Europe remains a key market and there are still business opportunities."
Greater Manchester Chamber is the largest Chamber of Commerce in the UK with over 5,000 members. We provide first-class business support through a range of tailored services and networking opportunities and use our influence with local and central government to lobby on behalf of our members as the voice of the Greater Manchester business community.
