Delight for Business Award nominees

Businesses across the borough have spoken of their delight at being short-listed for the Rochdale Business Awards.

The finalists are now preparing for what promises to be a great evening of celebration at Rochdale Town Hall on Friday 4 November.

Mike Goldrick from Mike Goldrick Window Blinds has been shortlisted for the Businessman of the Year award. Mr Goldrick said: “Just to get to the final three is an achievement in itself no matter what the final outcome is, it’s something very special to be recognised in this way.”

Michelle Matthews from Ladies Only has been shortlisted for Businesswoman of the Year, she said: “Hitting the short list is quite shocking, I know lots of very amazing business women in Rochdale, so to hit the final is exciting. I’m really pleased.”

Salt Separation Services Ltd is one of the companies in the Business of the Year (Turnover over £5m) category. Director, Daniel Shackleton, said: “We are pleased and really quite honoured to have been considered.” 

25 Ten Boutique has been shortlisted for the Business of the Year (turnover below £1m). Director, Paul Turner-Mitchell, said: “In 25 Ten we've built a business that the people of Rochdale can be proud of. We provide clothes that make people feel really good about themselves, backed up by friendly and knowledgeable service.

“In the last year we've invested in new, bigger premises and we've brought some of the UK's most glamorous women to our store, raising the profile of northern designers by wearing their outfits at national ceremonies.

“Our aim is to improve the retail offering across the board in Rochdale and bang the drum for top quality products and outstanding customer service. I am very proud that this vision and delivery, coupled with the hard work of our small dedicated team, has been recognised.” 

Jackson, Jackson & Sons has been shortlisted in the Business of the Year (turnover over £5m) category, the Business Co-operation category and Helen Senior from the firm has been shortlisted for Businesswoman of the Year.

Ms Senior, said: “We feel very honoured to be shortlisted for these awards, as our successes come from our teams and workforce. These nominations are a testament to all their hard work and commitment, thanks to them all.

“We feel passionate about supporting our town and the companies and people within it.

“Personally I am honoured to be shortlisted for this award, and I am proud of the team that supports me, and the company.”

The Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre has been shortlisted for the Environmental Award. Centre Manager Lorenzo O’Reilly, said: “It is great to be recognised for all the hard work and effort we have put in to attain these results and it will give us that added boost to do even more and build on what we already have.”

Cliff Ellison, Executive Director, Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale, added: "We're delighted to have been short-listed in the Environmental and Business Co-operation categories of the Rochdale Business Awards. This recognition is testament to the positive work we're doing with a range of partners across the Rochdale borough. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners who are helping us to change lives, improve public spaces and protect the wider environment."
