Council seeks school contractor

Rochdale Borough Council is seeking a contractor build a new school on a brownfield site in the borough.

The 15-month contract will start on 1 November and will involve the construction of a new building to house Heybrook Primary School and South Street Nursery School.

Both schools will relocate to a new site at the south of Dean Street and Halifax Road, which is bordered by Belfield Road and Hamer Lane.

Some industrial units and houses have been demolished on the new site and remediation work may be required under the contract.

The council estimates that the total value of the contract is in the region of approximately £6m.

Deadline for submitting tenders is 12pm on Friday 23 April.
