Carcraft open new Motorstore

Date published: 01 March 2010

The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Keith Swift, officially opened the new Motorstore from Carcraft today (Monday 1 March).

Since 1966, Motorstore has been serving the people of Rochdale and the surrounding areas with everything from auto-parts to bicycles, as well as just about everything in between.

Motorstore’s relocation to Motorstore House, Yorkshire Street, Rochdale marks the latest chapter in a long and successful business story.

Increased customer demand led the company’s store manager, Shirley Thorp, to realise that new premises may be the only option.

“A move was the only way to cope with increased demand and create the best possible customer experience,” said Ms Thorp.

“We’ve enjoyed many happy years at our old location, but the new site on Yorkshire Street really offers the chance to grow and expand even further.”

Mayor Swift, cut the ribbon officially announcing the new store open for business, he said: “Carcraft is a wonderful example of a Rochdale family business that had small beginnings on Entwistle Road and has grown into a national name with a national reputation”

He added: “I am delighted to be here at the opening of the new superstore, it is exactly that a super store.”

To celebrate, a raffle also took place with fantastic prizes donated by some of Motorstore’s prestigious brand partners, such as Apec, Shaftec, Ring and Marathon to name but a few. All profits from the raffle will go to Springhill Hospice; the company’s chosen charity since 2007.
