Nicky MacGill receives her award from Zenna Atkins, Chairwoman of the Ofsted board
Nicky MacGill of Fisherfield Farm Nursery has been honoured by Ofsted in a celebratory event at Manchester Town Hall recognising outstanding childcare providers in England.
Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector, Christine Gilbert, said: “I wholeheartedly congratulate Fisherfield Farm Nursery on its success and hard work in delivering such high standards. Excellence does not happen by chance, these providers have a real drive to inspire, challenge, and support children. But there is no reason why everyone can’t be outstanding, I hope they will be a source of inspiration to others.”
Ms MacGill said: “I’m absolutely delighted to receive this honour, which recognises the hard work and commitment of all of my staff. In everything we do, we try to make a difference and build up strong relationships with the children we care for and work with.
“I am currently studying for an Early Years Foundation Degree at Holy Cross College in Bury, and I am integrating everything I learn into the way we run Fisherfield Farm Nursery. We talk to the children and ask what sort of activities they would like to do, and make sure we listen to and act upon the feedback they give us.”
Fisherfield Farm Nursery was set up by former hairdresser Ms MacGill 13 years ago and now has four nurseries in Rochdale and two in Bury, employing 130 staff who provide care for more than 340 children aged between three months and four years.
