Rochdale based nursery is 'outstanding'

Date published: 16 November 2009

Following the glowing report Fisherfield Farm Nurseries received from Ofsted, David MacGill, director of Fisherfield Farm Nursery, decided the current nursery website was in need of a redesign in order to better represent the high quality that the Rochdale based nurseries are known for.

Fisherfield Farm Nurseries have received an ‘Overall Outstanding’ grade from Ofsted, which is the highest grade to receive. The report states: “Overall, the quality of provision is outstanding. Staff are highly effective in ensuring children’s progress through the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children benefit from the high quality of care they receive from staff who meet their individual needs exceptionally well through personalised planning, rigorous assessments and successful partnership with parents.”

David MacGill, company director, said: "I am thrilled to bits about the report. It was a strategic objective to continually improve. It was down to the hard work of Michelle Loboda, manager at our Edinburgh Way site, and the team."

David MacGill approached Rochdale Online (RO) for the best advice on a site redesign, improved search engine listings and an interface from which he could upload the latest news and vacancies.

Jon Pudny, RO’s graphic designer, said: “We advised that the site architecture could be better organised and the current design was starting to show its age, we found the old website performed reasonably well in Google for popular keywords such as ‘Rochdale Nursery’ so suggested we focused on the other services the nursery had to offer.

"We proposed Mr MacGill used one of our excellent SEO-ready brochure websites. This allowed us to heavily focus on creating an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing layout whilst improving search engine results for some of the lesser known services like 'School Club' and 'Holiday Club'.

"Following RO Web Solutions recommendation Mr MacGill moved away from the complex and often unused CMS that the entire web site previously ran and implemented one of our cost effective and custom built news and vacancy modules.

"With a strong illustrative design the website is themed perfectly for the companies target audience, under-the-hood the RO development team have worked their magic and the site is more manageable for staff looking to upload news articles, we are also seeing some good results in the search engines that will hopefully see an increase in the level of website enquiries and activity."

The director of the nursery added: “I am really pleased with the new design, it’s attracting visitors and people are able to use the download features for applications, jobs and holidays club information. I really am thrilled.”
