Rochdale-based Zen Internet, one of the UK's leading Internet Service Providers (ISPs), has made it onto the Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 list at number 31. This position ranks it as sixth in the North of England. The Tech Track 100 is a national league table of Britain's 100 private technology companies with the fastest-growing sales over a two-year period. Zen's ranking this year is a climb of 20 places up from its position in the previous Tech Track 100.
Fast Track is an independent research, publishing and events company that tracks Britain's top performing private companies and entrepreneurs. The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 is now in its fifth year, and ranks the country's 100 fastest growing private technology companies by 2002-2004 sales growth. Zen Internet had sales growth for that period of 101.26% per annum and sales in 2004 of £14.2m.
Stuart Birchall, Technical Services Director of Zen Internet, said: "I'm delighted about our inclusion in the Tech Track league table. The fact that we've climbed a massive 20 places up the table shows that our focus on customer satisfaction, and our determination to remain independent is paying dividends. This stands us in good stead for our expansion plans in the future."
Last year, Zen was listed 39th in the Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100, which ranks Britain's fastest growing unquoted companies. Zen's listing this year comes on the back of a year which saw the company providing broadband connections for organisers of events such as Live 8, V Festival, Manchester Pride Festival, the Open Golf, and the Guardian's Soulmates tent at Glastonbury. Also this year, Zen has launched its revamped Partner Programme, which will enable Zen to continue to deliver excellent business opportunities to partners and offer outstanding support. Enhancements to the programme include, a training programme offering Zen accreditation, an excellent range of sales tools, and a comprehensive marketing support programme.
