Professionals Quiz Raises Thousands for Hospice

Date published: 23 June 2005

Members of both the Springhill Hospice and the Bury Hospice are delighted once again at the funds raised by the Royal Bank of Scotland, who have been raising thousands of pounds for them for seven years.

This year was the 7th Annual Professionals Quiz Night, held at the Bury Football Club Social Club. Teams of ‘professionals’ arrived from businesses around Rochdale and Bury, including Rochdale Online, Molesworths Bright Clegg Solicitors, Morris Dean and Ryder & Dutton.

A staggering £1250 was presented to each hospice at the end of the night, which is more than previous years.

The Royal Bank of Scotland Commercial Banking Manager Roger Morley said: “For the seventh year running, I can proudly say that the evening was another success. The huge turnout was unexpected as the weather was so hot, most people are usually in their gardens having a barbecue, so it was flattering that so many came along and made their donations for the Springhill Hospice.

The amount of money we managed to donate to both hospices is tremendous, and certainly a step-up from last year. That is what makes it all worthwhile, and I’ll now look forward to next year when we can do it all again.”

Ian Jenkins from Springhill Hospice in Rochdale said: “We are very grateful to the Royal Bank of Scotland, the amount of money we received this year has increased because of their hard work and their support, and they have been superb.”
