Farmers and land managers affected by last year’s flooding are being reminded of an important deadline
Farmers and land managers affected by last year’s flooding are being reminded of an important deadline.
The CLA is reminding its members affected by December’s flooding that they have until Friday 1 April to apply to the Farming Recovery Fund. Funding can help with the costs of restoring agricultural land to the state it was in before the flooding took place.
The fund extends to farmers and landowners in Cumbria, Northumberland, Lancashire, Yorkshire and County Durham. The minimum grant available is £500 and the maximum is £20,000. So far around 400 applications worth £4.4 million have been submitted.
The CLA is also encouraging its members to submit their claim before the deadline even if they’re uncertain as to the final cost.
CLA North Rural Adviser Libby Bateman said: “Some members have been in contact to say they are struggling to get the necessary approval for remedial work.
“We are advising anyone in this situation to submit an application with projected figures and make a variation to the application later if needed. Please call the Farming Recovery Fund Helpline on: 03000 200 301 to seek clarification if you are affected by this problem.”
Applications can be made online via the www.gov.uk website.
